Year of death: Kan'ei 18 (1641) Year of birth: 1599 A daimyo in the early Edo period. Commonly known as Jintaro and Sahyoe, his official title was Shima no Kami, his father was Masashige, his mother was the daughter of Doi Toshimasa, and his maternal uncle was Doi Toshikatsu. He was attached to Tokugawa Iemitsu at a young age. In 1622 he became the head of the page group, and in 1624 he became the head of the Shoin program. In 1694 he was granted an additional stipend of 10,000 koku and became a daimyo. After Hidetada's death in 1617 he was designated a trusted vassal of Iemitsu, and in 1618 he became one of the Rokuninshu (later Wakadoshiyori) along with Matsudaira Nobutsuna, Abe Tadaaki, Hotta Masamori, Ota Sukemune, and Abe Shigetsugu. In 1720 he traveled to the Shimabara Rebellion as an envoy. In 1721 he was given Mibu Castle in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture) and was given a stipend of 25,000 koku.
