Oyster farming is popular worldwide, and the main species used for it are as follows: (1) Magaki (Crassostrea gigas ) (illustration) Widely distributed from Sakhalin to Japan, Taiwan, southern Korea, and China to Malaysia, this species is the main one cultivated in Japan. Oysters called Shikame, Nagagaki, and Ezogaki are types of this species.
