Marburg Conference - Marburg Staircase (English name) Colloquy of Marburg
Philip von Hesse, who aimed to form a Protestant union, held a meeting between the reformers in Saxony, Germany and Switzerland in Marburg (now Marburg an der Rahne) from October 1 to 4, 1529, in order to unite the reformers. The German side was attended by M. Luther and P. Melanchthon, and the Swiss side by H. Zwingli, J. Ecolampadius, and M. Butzer. In addition, representatives of the princes and territories and 60 guests also attended. The Eucharist's "This is my body" was the subject of conflict between the theorists who believed in the existence of the body and the symbolism of the body. Luther created a 15-article agreement, but only the 15th article, which stated the theory of the existence of the body, was rejected by Zwingli. The agreement was discussed, revised, and signed by theologians, and was accepted by the count as a Protestant declaration of faith. It was later partially incorporated into the Augsburg Creed of the Lutheran Church.
