Uda-hoshi

A treatise on haiku. Edited by Li You and Kiyoriku. Published in 1702 (Genroku 15). One volume. Printed by Izutsuya Shobei. The title is an inscription on a wagoto beloved by Emperor Uda. The contents are divided into three parts: "Hinkai Senshuho" discusses editing methods such as having the compiler add his own verses to the collection, "Touryu Katsuho" mainly discusses kireji (cut characters), and "Manabu to Haikai Satai" discusses the basics of linked verse, but there are many noteworthy points, such as the Sho-style haiku theory mentioned in the text. The writing is more organized than his previous work, "Hentsuke," and respects formality.

俳諧論書。李由･許六（きよりく）編。1702年(元禄15)刊。1冊。井筒屋庄兵衛板。題号は，宇多帝遺愛の和琴の銘によるもの。内容は3部に分かれ，〈誹諧撰集法〉では撰者みずからの句を入集させることなどの編集法について，〈当流活法〉では主として切字（きれじ）について，〈巻頭幷俳諧沙汰〉では連句の心得について論ずるが，文中に触れられる蕉風俳諧論など注目すべき点が多い。前著《篇突（へんつき）》よりもいっそう整理された記述で格式を重んじている。
