Born on December 28, 1772. He studied under Udagawa Genzui and Otsuki Gentaku, and succeeded the Udagawa family as a doctor for Tsuyama Domain in Mimasaka (Okayama Prefecture). He participated in the Edo shogunate's translation of the Frenchman Chomel's Encyclopedia (Kosei Shinpen). He published translations of medical and natural history books such as Ensei Iho Meibutsu Ko and Oranda Yakukyo. He passed away on December 4, 1832. He was 66 years old.
