Mayol

Japanese:
Mayol
A French marine biologist known as a specialist in free diving. He was the first person to break through the depth of 100 meters. He succeeded by modifying his body for free diving through special training by his ingenuity and ingenuity. Until he demonstrated it, the academic consensus was that it was extremely dangerous to hold breath for more than two minutes and to dive deeper than 30 meters. He was determined to swim with dolphins, and made an effort to make his body closer to dolphins. The main method for doing so was what is called a meditation-based body technique, and he engaged in meditation such as Zen and yoga. As a result, his body's energy metabolic rate (basal metabolic rate) during meditation became lower than his resting energy metabolic rate (basal metabolic rate). For example, a few minutes after he entered meditation, his breathing rate, pulse rate, and blood pressure were all lower than his resting values. In this way, it was only when he was able to reduce his energy consumption at will that he succeeded in holding breath for more than two minutes and breaking through the depth of 30 meters. Using this as a breakthrough, he further modified his body. In 1976, at the age of 50, he succeeded in a 100m deep free dive off the coast of Elba, Italy. He held his breath for 3 minutes and 40 seconds. At the age of 56, he succeeded in reaching 105m. His superhuman feat astonished the world. He also demonstrated that by repeatedly meditating, one can enter a deep state of meditation, which in proportion to the depths, one can also approach dolphins. Today, he is working to expand the horizons of new knowledge by observing the underwater world with the mind and intuition of dolphins. His experiments are enough to give a sense of the infinite potential hidden in the human body. Through the film "The Big Blue" (1988) and his book "The Return of Dolphins to the Sea" (1983), the time and space that Maillol reached became known worldwide.

Mayol

French sculptor. Born in Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast. He initially aspired to be a painter, and exhibited at the first Salon des Indépendants. In 1894 he met Gauguin and became acquainted with the Nabis. It was around this time that he began to experiment with tapestries, and also began ceramics and sculpture. At the age of 40 he devoted himself to sculpture. He expressed the female body in a rich sense of volume, and produced works with a quiet harmony reminiscent of the Mediterranean, making him one of the leading 20th century sculptors after Rodin. His representative works include The Mediterranean (1902-1905) and The Île-de-France (1920-1925). He also illustrated Virgil's The Agrarian Poem (1925).
