A samurai family from the early modern period. Originally from Dewa Province. Tadachika served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was granted a fief of over 8,980 koku at Dewa Hondo. From the time of Shigechika in 1599 (Keicho 4), the family came under Tokugawa Ieyasu, and in 1601 the fief was transferred to Shizuku in Hitachi (over 8,500 koku). In 1612 (Shoho 2), the fief was divided and the fief was reduced to 8,000 koku, and it continued to exist as a kotai-yoriai until the end of the Edo period. However, in 1868 (Meiji 1), during the time of Chikahisa, the fief was raised to 10,000 koku and added to the ranks of daimyo. After the Meiji Restoration, he became a viscount.
