Borneol

1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-ol. _{C 10} H ₁₈ O (154.25). Also called bornyl alcohol. Bicyclic monoterpene alcohol. Dextrorotatory (1 R, 2 S )-borneol is obtained from the Dryobalanops camphora tree, which grows in Borneo and Sumatra, and levorotatory (1 S, 2 R )-borneol, the antipode of borneol, is obtained from the Blumea balsamifera , which grows in Taiwan and the Malay Peninsula. Oxidation of (1 R, 2 S )-borneol produces d -camphor. Reduction of d -camphor with sodium and ethanol produces (1 R, 2 S )-borneol and its epimer with respect to the hydroxyl group, (1 R, 2 R )-isoborneol. (1R , 2S )-Borneol has a melting point of 208°C and a boiling point of 212°C. +37.7° (ethanol). It is easily soluble in ethanol, soluble in organic solvents, and insoluble in water. (1R , 2R )-Isoborneol has a melting point of 212°C. -32.3° (methanol). It is used in various cosmetics, fragrances, oral preparations, pharmaceutical fragrances, and disinfectants. 1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-ol．C₁₀H₁₈O(154.25)．ボルニルアルコールともいう．二環式モノテルペンアルコール．ボルネオやスマトラに産生する竜脳樹Dryobalanops camphoraから右旋性の(1R,2S)-ボルネオール(竜脳)が得られ，台湾，マレー半島などに産生するタカサゴギクBlumea balsamiferaからは，竜脳の対掌体である左旋性の(1S,2R)-ボルネオール(白手竜脳)が得られる．(1R,2S)-ボルネオールを酸化するとd-カンファーを生じる．d-カンファーをナトリウムとエタノールで還元すると，(1R,2S)-ボルネオールとヒドロキシ基に関するエピマー，(1R,2R)-イソボルネオールを生じる．(1R,2S)-ボルネオールは融点208 ℃，沸点212 ℃．＋37.7°(エタノール)．エタノールに易溶，有機溶媒に可溶，水に不溶．(1R,2R)-イソボルネオールは融点212 ℃．－32.3°(メタノール)．各種化粧品，香粧品，口腔剤，医薬品の付香料，殺菌消毒剤に用いられる．[CAS 464-43-7:(1R,2S)-ボルネオール]
