...However, in many cases, radio waves originating from individual sources such as supernova remnants, the Sun, and planets are excluded, and also radio waves in the spectrum such as hydrogen 21 cm radio waves and molecular spectral lines are often excluded. In such cases, they are sometimes called galactic background radio waves to distinguish them. When viewed from Earth, they consist of a "disk component" that is distributed along the galactic plane (Milky Way), a "halo component" that is thought to be emitted from the gas surrounding the galaxy, and a component that surrounds the center of the galaxy.
