[Birth] 1652
Died: February 1, 1726. Petersburg. Russian economist and social commentator. Born into a family of silversmiths, he wrote the famous "Book of Riches and Poverty" (Kniga o skudosti i bogatstve) in 1724. This was written for Peter the Great (the Great) with the aim of reforming Russia's economic and political systems. He criticized the privileges of the nobility from the perspective of mercantilism in order to increase the country's wealth, and for this he was arrested in August 1725 and died in prison.
