Khosrō I
King of Sassanid Persia. Reigned 531-579. Son of Kavad I. As crown prince, he played a leading role in the oppression of the Mazdakites. He implemented the tax reforms started by his father to stabilize the finances, organized a standing army, and strengthened control of the military by dividing the empire into four military districts. He also established a bureaucratic system through the system of diwans (ministers). Externally, he fought against the Byzantines and occupied Antioch (540), and defeated the Hephthalites, who had long been forced to pay tribute, by allied with the Turks (around 558), and expanded the border to the Oxus River.

ササン朝ペルシアの王。在位531‐579年。カワード1世の子。皇太子のときにマズダク教徒の弾圧に主導的役割を果たした。父王が着手した税制改革を実現して財政の安定を図り,国王常備軍を編成し,帝国を4軍管区に組織して軍事力の統制を強化し,ディーワーン(大臣)制によって官僚制を整備した。対外的には東ローマと戦ってアンティオキアを占領し(540),長いあいだ貢納を強いられてきたエフタルに対しては,突厥と結んでこれを滅ぼし(558ころ),国境をオクサス川まで拡大した。
