Japanese: 研削といし(研削砥石) - けんさくといし（英語表記）grinding wheel

A rotating tool used for grinding work, with abrasive grains bonded to a fixed shape and size. They are broadly divided into artificial and natural abrasives, but the artificial abrasives are the ones used industrially.

Grinding wheels are composed of three elements: abrasive grains, binder, and pores. The abrasive grains used include white alumina (WA), brown alumina (A), single crystal alumina (HA), pink alumina (PA), green silicon carbide (GC), black silicon carbide (C), cubic boron nitride (cBN), and synthetic and natural diamond.

一定の形状寸法をもつように砥粒を結合した，研削作業に使用する回転工具。人造といしと天然といしとに大別されるが，工業的に用いられるのは，ほとんどが人造といしである。

　研削といしは砥粒，結合剤，気孔の3要素から構成されており，用いる砥粒には白色アルミナ質(WA)，褐色アルミナ質(A)，単一結晶アルミナ質(HA)，淡紅色アルミナ質(PA)，緑色炭化ケイ素質(GC)，黒色炭化ケイ素質(C)，立方晶窒化ホウ素(cBN)，人造ならびに天然のダイヤモンドなどがある。
