Born: April 15, 1880 in Prague [Died] October 12, 1943. New York German psychologist. Founder of Gestalt psychology. Taught at the Universities of Frankfurt and Berlin, and became a professor at the latter in 1929. In 1933, he moved to the United States and became a professor at the New School of Social Research in New York. His research into movement vision and thought marked the beginning of Gestalt theory. He was also interested in philosophical problems of logic, ethics, and truth, and exerted an influence with his highly original academic style. His main works include Experimentelle Studien über das Sehen von Bewegung (1912), Untersuchungen zur Lehre von der Gestalt (21, 23), Drei Abhandlungen zur Gestalttheorie (25), and Productive Thinking (45).
