〘名〙 (「ぶんどう」とも)① 秤で重量を測定するとき、重量の標準として用いるおもり。多く金属製で筒形、釣鐘形のもの。法馬(ほうま)。ふんどん。〔文明本節用集(室町中)〕※滑稽本・風来六部集(1780)飛だ噂の評「あちらの物よりこちらの称錘(フンドウ)が重き故」② ①の形に鋳造した金や銀の塊。蓄えて非常の時の用に備えたもの。※当代記(1615頃か)四「秀頼公より金銀材木被レ調、此ために黄金の千枚吹のふんとうを江戸へ被レ下」③ (裏面に①の形が鋳込まれているところから) 南鐐の二朱銀の俗称。※風俗画報‐五三号(1893)漫録「東京にては大抵分銅(フンドウ)を看板にすれど、此地(ここ)にては寛永通宝の銭形を以てせり」④ おもりとしたり均衡をとったりするためにつりさげなどしたもの。※煤煙(1909)〈森田草平〉一「潜りを押さうとしたが、分銅の具合が悪くて開かない」⑤ 紋所の名。①を図案化したもの。分銅、五つ分銅など。
