A literary magazine. It was first published as a coterie magazine in June 1924 (Taisho 13) by Aono Suekichi and Komaki Oumi, co-authors of "The Sower." It published works and critiques by Hayama Yoshiki, Kuroshima Denji, Hirabayashi Taiko, Aono, and others, and played a central and leading role in the proletarian literature movement of this period. In June 1927 (Showa 2), when the Japan Proletarian Art League, of which Aono was a member, split, the mainstream faction formed the Labor-Farmer Artists League, and it became its organ magazine thereafter. After the Labor-Farmers split in November, it solidified its position in support of Yamakawa Hitoshi's "Labor-Farmer," and opposed the NAPF faction, which supported the Communist Party and was based on Aono, Hayama, Maeda Kouichirou, and others, but it weakened due to continued splits and withdrawals. It was renamed "Bunsen" in January 1956. It ceased publication in July 1957. The total number of volumes is 92. There is a reprint edition.
