Paulus Orosius

Japanese: オロシウス - おろしうす(英語表記)Paulus Orosius
Paulus Orosius

Date of birth and death unknown. A clergyman and author from Spain. Around 414, as a young man, he traveled to North Africa to seek guidance from Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, and then went to the Holy Land, where he debated with Pelagius in Jerusalem. He then returned to Africa, and at Augustine's urging, he wrote the seven-volume work "A History Against the Pagans" around 418, a world history that had a profound influence on medieval historical writing, with the aim of supplementing "The City of God." His whereabouts after that are unknown.
