An oil field at the northern end of the North Slope of Alaska. Discovered by ALCO in 1968. Exploration on the North Slope began in the 1910s, but only three small oil and three gas fields were discovered between the 1940s and the early 1960s. In bidding held between 1964 and 1967, Litchfield (which was absorbed by Atlantic Refining in 1966 to become ALCO), Humble (now Exxon), and British Petroleum won the largest acreage.
