Platonov, Sergei Fëdorovich
Born: June 28, 1860 in Chernigov
[Died] January 10, 1933, Samara Russian historian. Graduated from St. Petersburg State University in 1882. Professor at the same university since 1999. Member of the Academy of Sciences (1920-1931). He made groundbreaking achievements in research on Russian history from the late 16th century to the early 17th century, especially the Time of Troubles (Smuta), and continued to have a great influence even after the revolution, but he did not change his position as a monarchist, and was arrested and exiled to Samara. His works include Drevnerusskiye skazaniya i povesti o Smutnom vremeni XVII veka kak istoricheskiy istochnik (1888) (Tales and stories about the Time of Troubles in the 17th century as historical sources) and Ocherki po istorii smuty v Moskovskom gosudarstve XVI-XVII vv. (99).

Born: September 1, 1899 in Voronezh
[Died] January 5, 1951. Soviet writer, Moscow. He studied at a mining technical school and worked in a factory from the age of 15, but after the October Revolution, he participated in the Civil War as a soldier in the Red Army. After the Civil War ended, he became an engineer and wrote poetry on the side, publishing his first collection of poems, Golybaya glubina (1922). He established himself as a writer with the collections of short stories Epifanskie shlyuzy (27) and Sokrovennyi chelovek (28). His works Usomnivshiisya Makar (29) and Vprok (31) were heavily criticized, forcing him to go quiet, but he was reevaluated after "The Thaw". His masterpieces include Dzan (33) and Fro (36).
