Frashëri - Frashëri (English spelling)

Albanian poet. Also a pioneer of modern literature and literary language. Originally from southern Albania, he played a leading role in the national independence movement of the 1870s and 1880s with his brothers Abjur and Sami. He began writing poetry under the influence of Turkish and Persian literature in his early days, and later became familiar with Greek classical literature and was also influenced by the French Enlightenment. His representative pastoral epics, Pastoral and Agrarian Poems (1886) and Summer Flowers (1890), sing of his love for the mountains and rivers of his homeland, while his epic poem The Tale of Skanderbeg (1898) portrays a national hero in the anti-Turkish struggle.

アルバニアの詩人。近代文学と文語の確立者でもある。南アルバニアの出身で、兄弟のアブジュル、サミとともに1870～80年代の民族独立運動でも主導的な役割を果たした。初期にはトルコ文学やペルシア文学の影響を受けながら詩作を始め、のちにギリシア古典文学に親しみ、またフランス啓蒙(けいもう)思想の影響も受けた。代表作の田園叙事詩『牧歌と農事詩』（1886）、『夏の花』（1890）では祖国の山河に対する愛が歌われ、叙事詩『スカンデルベグ物語』（1898）では反トルコ闘争の民族的英雄の姿が描かれている。
