MIRV - Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle

A system that uses multiple nuclear warheads on a single ballistic missile and delivers each warhead to a separate target. It was first developed in the United States and was equipped on many intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) in the United States and the Soviet Union by the late 20th century.
