MIRV - Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle

A system that uses multiple nuclear warheads on a single ballistic missile and delivers each warhead to a separate target. It was first developed in the United States and was equipped on many intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) in the United States and the Soviet Union by the late 20th century. 1基の弾道ミサイルに複数の核弾頭を装備し，それぞれの弾頭を別々の目標に送達するシステム。複数独立目標弾頭，個別誘導複数目標弾頭，多目標弾頭などと訳される。アメリカ合衆国で最初に開発され，20世紀後半までに，アメリカとソビエト連邦で多くの大陸間弾道ミサイル ICBMと潜水艦発射弾道ミサイル SLBMに装備された。
