Bucchero ware

Etruscan pottery produced between the end of the 8th century BC and the beginning of the 3rd century BC. It is characterized by black patterns or a delicate black shine on the surface, a thin vessel shape imitating bronze vessels, and delicate surface decorations and carvings in relief. Early pottery was often made without the use of a potter's wheel and has geometric patterns, but around the 6th century BC, designs of birds and animals were used. In particular, pottery from around 680-600 BC is called bucchero sottile, and is known for its advanced potter's wheel and firing techniques. 前8世紀末～3世紀初め頃に製作されたエトルリアの陶器。黒の模様または精妙な表面の黒い輝き，青銅器類をまねた肉薄の器形およびレリーフ状の繊細な表面装飾や刻文が特徴。初期のものは，ろくろを使わず幾何学模様が多いが，前6世紀頃には鳥や動物の図案が使われた。特に前 680～600年頃のものはブッケロ・ソッティーレと呼ばれ，ろくろと焼成の高度な技術で知られている。
