The title of a Kyogen piece. Muko Kyogen. The groom (shite) feels embarrassed to visit his father-in-law for the first time after marriage and exchange sake cups by himself, so his father accompanies him and helps him put on hakama in front of his father-in-law's house. Leaving his parents waiting in front of the gate, the groom greets his father-in-law for the first time, but the father realizes that his parents are with him and is invited into the room as well. However, there is only one hakama for the groom, so they quickly change in front of the gate and take turns going in front of the father-in-law one by one. Asked to go in together, the father and son are in a difficult position, so they tear their hakama in half and wear them in front like aprons before going into the room. After the sake ceremony, the groom is asked to dance, and he dances while trying not to show his back, but the father-in-law invites the father-in-law to dance together, and it becomes clear that the back of his hakama is missing. The highlight of the piece is the humor of the groom's awkward movements as he dances, worrying about what is behind him. The kabuki dance based on this piece is "Ninin Hakama," adapted by Fukuchi Ochi, and premiered at the Kabukiza Theater in Tokyo in June 1894 (Meiji 27).
