Learning control

Japanese: 学習制御 - がくしゅうせいぎょ（英語表記）learning control

A term in electrical and electronic engineering. Refers to a control method with a learning function. The control device or control system itself remembers the relationship between the control measures and the results of their execution, and improves the control measures based on that. It is used when the characteristics of the object to be controlled or the surrounding environmental conditions cannot be fully understood, and it is not possible to design an appropriate control measure in advance. When a device has a learning function, it is not only able to immediately adapt to situations it has experienced in the past or similar situations, but also has the ability to gradually adapt to new situations that it has not experienced before. In that sense, it is a more advanced control method than adaptive control.

電気電子工学の用語。学習機能をそなえた制御方式をいう。制御装置あるいは制御システムそのものが，制御方策とその実行結果の関係を記憶し，それに基づいて制御方策を改善していくシステムで，制御対象の特性や周囲の環境条件を完全に把握できず，適切な制御の方策をあらかじめ設計することができないとき用いられる。学習機能をもつ場合には過去に経験した状況あるいはそれに近い状況にただちに適応できるばかりでなく，経験しなかった新しい状況にも徐々に適応できる能力をもつ。その意味で，適応制御よりもさらに高度の制御方式である。
