Sinobronchial Syndrome

[What kind of disease is it?]
If you have sinusitis, mucus from your nose can go down your throat while you sleep, enter your bronchi, and cause bronchitis.
In addition, when breathing through the mouth, air that is not humidified, heated, or purified is inhaled, which can lead to bronchitis.
Sinus-bronchial syndrome is a disease in which chronic sinusitis is combined with chronic bronchitis, diffuse panbronchiolitis, or bronchiectasis. It occurs in about 5% of chronic sinusitis cases, and most of the cases are middle-aged people who have been suffering from the disease for a long time.
[Symptoms]
Symptoms of nasal and sinusitis, such as stuffy nose, runny nose, and impaired sense of smell, are accompanied by symptoms of bronchitis, such as coughing, phlegm, shortness of breath, asthma, and slight fever. The phlegm is purulent and in large quantities, and nasal symptoms often precede the onset of symptoms.
[Treatment]
X-rays show no unique features of sino-bronchial syndrome. Both sinusitis and bronchitis require treatment, but there are many cases where bronchial symptoms improve by inserting an endoscope through the nostrils and performing surgery on the sinuses.

Sinus bronchial syndrome

This refers to a combination of chronic sinusitis (commonly known as chronic sinusitis ("chronic sinusitis (sinusitis)")) with chronic bronchitis ("chronic bronchitis"), bronchiectasis ("bronchiectasis"), diffuse panbronchiolitis, etc.
It was previously thought that this was because pus that had accumulated in the sinuses was sucked into the bronchi while sleeping, causing inflammation of the bronchi, but it is now thought that there may be some kind of constitutional disorder that causes chronic inflammation in the entire respiratory system, which is covered with the same mucous membrane from the sinuses to the bronchi.
Erythromycin therapy (which basically involves taking a medication for "diffuse panbronchiolitis" for a long period of time) is known to improve not only bronchial symptoms, but also sinus symptoms.

　副鼻腔炎（ふくびくうえん）があると、睡眠（すいみん）中に鼻汁（びじゅう）がのどのほうに降り、気管支（きかんし）に入って気管支炎（きかんしえん）の原因になります。
　また、口呼吸（くちこきゅう）のために加湿（かしつ）・加温（かおん）・清浄化（せいじょうか）されない空気が吸入（きゅうにゅう）され、気管支炎を誘発（ゆうはつ）します。
　慢性副鼻腔炎（まんせいふくびくうえん）に慢性気管支炎、びまん性汎細気管支炎（はんさいきかんしえん）、あるいは気管支拡張症（きかんしかくちょうしょう）が合併した病気が副鼻腔気管支症候群です。慢性副鼻腔炎の約5％に合併し、ほとんどが罹病（りびょう）期間の長い中年の人です。
[症状]
　鼻づまり、鼻汁（びじゅう）、嗅覚障害（きゅうかくしょうがい）などの鼻（び）・副鼻腔炎（ふくびくうえん）の症状に、せき、たん、息切れ、ぜんそく、微熱などの気管支炎の症状が加わります。たんは、膿性（のうせい）で多量で、鼻症状が先行することが多いようです。
[治療]
　Ｘ線検査で、副鼻腔気管支症候群独特の特徴はありません。副鼻腔炎と気管支炎の両方の治療が必要ですが、内視鏡（ないしきょう）を鼻の孔（あな）から入れ、副鼻腔などの手術をすることで気管支の症状が改善するケースが少なくありません。

ふくびくうきかんししょうこうぐん【副鼻腔気管支症候群】

　慢性副鼻腔炎（まんせいふくびくうえん）（いわゆる蓄膿症（ちくのうしょう）（「慢性副鼻腔炎（蓄膿症）」））に、慢性気管支炎（まんせいきかんしえん）（「慢性気管支炎」）、気管支拡張症（きかんしかくちょうしょう）（「気管支拡張症」）、びまん性汎細気管支炎（せいはんさいきかんしえん）などが合併したものをいいます。
　以前には、副鼻腔にたまった膿汁（のうじゅう）が、眠っている間に気管支に吸引されて気管支の炎症をおこすためと考えられていましたが、現在では、副鼻腔から気管支まで同じ性質をもった粘膜（ねんまく）におおわれた気道系全体に、慢性炎症をおこすなんらかの体質的な障害があるのではないかと考えられています。
　エリスロマイシン療法（「びまん性汎細気管支炎」の治療薬の長期服用が基本）によって、気管支の症状の改善だけでなく、副鼻腔の症状も改善することが知られています。
