Telemachus (English spelling)

Hero of Greek mythology. Son of Odysseus and Penelope. In the Odyssey, he cooperates with Odysseus when he returns home and kills all of Penelope's suitors who were acting freely in her mansion while her father was away. After Odysseus' death, he married Circe, Odysseus's lover, and is said to have had a son named Latinus. Some legends say that the woman who gave birth to Rome, Rome, was born from this marriage.

ギリシア神話の英雄。オデュッセウスとペネロペイアの子。『オデュッセイア』に，帰国したオデュッセウスと協力し，父の不在中その館でほしいままにふるまっていたペネロペイアの求婚者たちを皆殺しにした次第が物語られている。オデュッセウスの死後，その愛人だったキルケと結婚し，ラテン人の名祖ラティノスを息子にもうけたとされ，ローマの名祖の女性ロメがこの結婚から生れたとする伝承もある。
