The medical term is angular cheilitis or erosion of the mouth. It is a disease in which the corners of the mouth become ulcerated and prone to bleeding. It is usually caused by infection with Candida, Staphylococcus, or Streptococcus, but it is more likely to occur when there is digestive disorder or fever, and it can also occur when resistance to infection is reduced due to diabetes, anemia, vitamin B deficiency, etc., or when taking antibiotics or steroids. Administration of vitamin _B2 group is often effective.

医学用語では口角炎，口角糜爛(びらん)という。口角が潰瘍(かいよう)状になり，出血しやすくなる病気。通常，カンジダやブドウ球菌，連鎖球菌などの感染によるが，消化器障害や発熱時にできやすく，糖尿病，貧血，ビタミンB欠乏症などによって感染に対する抵抗力が低下している時，抗生物質やステロイド剤の服用中に起こることもある。ビタミンB₂群の投与が有効なことが多い。
