This manor was located in the area of the current Minabe Town, Wakayama Prefecture, in the lower reaches of the Nanbu River in Hidaka County, Kii Province. The circumstances of its establishment are unknown, but it first appeared as "Minamibaisho" in a historical document from 1109. The position of lord was passed from Princess Fushiminomiya Moriko to Princess Itsujinomiya Shoshi, but in 1175, Princess Shoshi built Rengejoin Temple on Mount Koya to mourn the death of her father, Emperor Toba, and donated 10 cho of rice fields in Yamauchi Village within the manor as a tax haven for offerings of oil and food to the deceased, so part of the position of lord was transferred to Rengejoin. In 1194, the ownership of the 10 cho of rice fields was converted into a donation of 100 koku of rice, and after Princess Shoshi's death, it was decided that the entire land would be used as a service for the temple family (Rengejoin). Therefore, after the death of the princess in 1208, the entire manor became the property of Rengejoin. The position of Geshi had been filled by members of the Kumano betto family since the time of Princess Moriko's domain, starting with Tankai, then his son Tanzō, then his son Tanshōō Hokkyō, then Tanmori Harima betto, and finally Kajitsu Komatsu Hoin. The stipend for the lord was 300 koku in Tankai's time, but when Tanzō took over there was a dispute between him and his brother Tanmasa, and Tanzō was appointed to the position after accepting an increase of 200 koku. Kajitsu Komatsu Hoin was executed for aiding Emperor Gotoba during the Jokyu War, and his Geshi position was confiscated, but the ownership of Rengejoin remained unchanged, and Sahara Ietsuraji, the governor of Kii Province, was appointed as the land steward in place of the Geshi. After Ietsuraya, his son Mitsutsuna took over as land steward, but Mitsutsuna was killed fighting on the side of Miura in the Battle of Hoji in 1247 and his position as land steward was confiscated. Taking this opportunity, Rengejoin applied to have its position suspended on the grounds that Ietsuraya and Mitsutsuna had committed illegal acts, but their request was denied. The land stewardship continued thereafter, and various disputes between Rengejoin and the land steward continued for a long time. In 1393, the land was divided by the judgement of the Shugo Ouchi Yoshihiro, but invasions by local samurai continued after that, and by 1441 Rengejoin's income had fallen to just 30 koku.
