Hiruko - Hiruko

In the Kojiki and Nihon shoki myths, this is the first child born to the two gods Izanagi and Izanami, with a withered limb. He is put into a reed boat or an Iwakusu boat and thrown away, but the name "Hiru" is a verb form of "spirit" or "sun" with the old particle "ru" added, and "Hiruko" is paired with the name of Amaterasu Omikami (Ohirume no Muchi). In Japan, there are many legends in which a god appears on the water in an empty boat, and appears as a noble being, and the throwing away of the leech is based on the idea of ​​this myth. In later generations, he was also worshiped in association with the god Ebisu.

記紀神話で、伊弉諾(いざなぎ)・伊弉冉(いざなみ)二神の間に最初に生まれた手足の萎(な)えた子。葦舟(あしぶね)または磐楠(いわくす)舟に乗せて流し捨てられるが、その名義の「ひる」は「霊(ひ)」の動詞化、あるいは「日(ひ)」に助詞「の」の古語「る」を付したもので、「ひるこ」は天照大神(あまてらすおおみかみ)（大日霊貴(おおひるめのむち)）の名と一対となる。わが国には、空舟(むなぶね)に乗って水上を来臨し、尊貴な存在として出現する伝承が多く、蛭児の流し捨てもこの神話の発想を基とする。また後世には、恵比須(えびす)神と付会して信仰されることもあった。
