Circle Mandala

...The Shaka Golden Wheel emerges from the top of the Buddha's head, and he sits in a lotus position on the central Mount Sumeru with the golden wheel on his lap in both hands. In the second sanctuary there is a concentric circular mandala with the twelve zodiac signs and in the third sanctuary there is a multi-layered square mandala. Two versions of the Buddhist painting from the late Heian period are known: the circular version at Horyuji Temple in Nara and the square version at Kumeda-dera Temple in Osaka....
