A small village with a population of about 2,000 in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany. It is located in the Nagold Valley, northeast of the Black Forest and about 30 km west of Stuttgart. The Benedictine monastery, founded in 830, is of a grand scale and was once one of the most famous monasteries in Europe as a center of learning. Parts of it still remain today.
