Shu Hirayama

Shu Hirayama
1870-1940 A collaborator of the Chinese revolutionary movement from the Meiji period to the early Showa period.
Born in 1870. In 1897, he was sent to Qing (China) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate secret societies. In the same year, he obtained permission for Sun Yat-sen to stay in Japan under the pretext of being Hirayama's language teacher. After that, he was active in supporting the Chinese Revolution. He passed away in 1940 at the age of 71. He was born in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture). He graduated from Toyo Eiwa School. His pen names were Nishuan and Manri. His works include "The Chinese Revolutionary Party and Secret Societies."

明治3年生まれ。30年外務省派遣の形で清(しん)(中国)にわたり,秘密結社を調査。同年平山の語学教師の名目で孫文の滞日許可をえた。以後,中国革命支援に活躍。昭和15年死去。71歳。筑前(ちくぜん)(福岡県)出身。東洋英和学校卒。号は二楸庵,万里。著作に「支那革命党及秘密結社」。
