Hidaka [city] - Hidaka
A city in southern Saitama prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1991. It is located at the eastern foot of the Chichibu Mountains, with the Koma River flowing through the west. Its center is the Taniguchi settlement of the Koma River, which is said to have been the place where Koreans migrated and developed during the Nara period, and developed as a market town from the early Edo period. It is a junction of the Hachiko Line and Kawagoe Line, and is also served by the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. It is also close to the Sayama-Hidaka Interchange of the Metropolitan Intercity Expressway, which opened in March 1996. The number of housing complexes has increased rapidly since the 1960s, and there is a cement factory on the plateau near Koma River Station. It is home to Shoten-in Temple and Koma Shrine. 47.48 km2 . Population: 57,473 (2010).

埼玉県南部の市。1991年市制。秩父山地東麓にあり,高麗(こま)川が西部を流れる。中心は高麗川の谷口集落で,奈良時代に高麗人が移住開拓した地とされ,江戸時代初期から市場町として発達した。八高線と川越線の分岐点で,西武池袋線も通じ,1996年3月開通の首都圏中央連絡自動車道の狭山日高インターチェンジにも近い。1960年代から住宅団地が急増,高麗川駅付近の台地にはセメント工場がある。聖天院,高麗神社がある。47.48km2。5万7473人(2010)。
