He is said to be the son of Emperor Kaika. In the entry for January of the 6th year of the Kaika era in the Nihon Shoki, it appears that he took Ubatsuhime, the younger sister of Hahatsu no Mikoto, the distant ancestor of Wani no Omi, as his wife, and gave birth to Mikoto. In the entry for October of the 5th year of the Suinin era, it is said that Prince Taniwa no Chinushi, the father of Hibasuhime no Mikoto, who was recommended as the wife of Emperor Suinin, was the son of Hikoza no Mikoto. The Kojiki records him as King Hikoza no O, and states that Emperor Kaika married Okitsuhime, the younger sister of Hikokunioketsu no Omi, the ancestor of the Maruniomi clan, and gave birth to a king.It also records a detailed genealogy of the kings, such as saying that the king married Okinaga no Mizuyorihime, the daughter of Ame-no-Mikage no Kami, worshipped by Mikami no Hafuri of Kintanmi, and gave birth to King Tamba Hikotatasumichinoushi and others.
