Higashi Niigata Gas Field

Japanese: 東新潟ガス田 - ひがしにいがたがすでん

A gas field located east of Niigata City, on the east side of the Agano River estuary and offshore. It was discovered as a structural gas field in 1959, but until then the surrounding area had been developed as a water-soluble gas field. The geological structure that forms this gas field is a gentle dome-shaped structure with its peak slightly east of the Agano River estuary. The gas production range is about 3 km from east to west and north to south, and is between depths of about 1,170 and 3,400 m. Gas is extracted from all of the gas layers distributed offshore from inclined wells on land.

新潟市の東，阿賀野川河口の東側およびその沖合に位置するガス田。構造性ガス田として1959年に発見されたが，それまではこの辺り一帯は水溶性ガス田として開発されていた。このガス田を形成している地質構造は，阿賀野川河口やや東に頂部をもつゆるいドーム状構造である。産ガス範囲は東西･南北とも約3kmあり，深度は約1170～3400mの間にある。沖合に分布するガス層はすべて陸上からの傾斜井によりガスが採取されている。
