Order: Decapoda, Class: Malacostraca, Family: Oplophoroidea. Body length: about 12cm, uniformly deep red color. A representative species of deep-sea shrimp, its shell is relatively soft. The rostrum is almost the same length as the cephalothorax, protrudes straight, and has 9-13 spines on the upper edge and 4-5 spines on the lower edge. During the day, it is collected from depths of 900-1800m, but at night it rises to depths of less than 900m. Juvenile shrimp are more common in the upper layers than adults, and are found at depths of 900-1300m. It has light-emitting organs on its thoracic legs that emit light when stimulated. It inhabits the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans. All species of Oplophoroidea are deep-sea mesopelagic, and have soft shells.
