Banshido

A scholar from the early Qing Dynasty in China. His courtesy name was Ji Ye and his pen name was Shiyuan. He was from Yin County (Ningbo), Zhejiang Province. He studied under Huang Zongxi and excelled in ritual studies and history. He was well versed in the Ming Dynasty and was dissatisfied with the fact that the histories of the various dynasties after the "Old Book of Tang" were compiled jointly by the editors. When the Ming History Museum was established in 1679 (the 18th year of the Kangxi era), he did not directly participate in the compilation project, but instead completed a manuscript of 500 volumes. Incidentally, the 332 volumes of the "Ming History" were based on Sidong's manuscript. In addition, the 160-volume "Dokurei Tongkao" by Xu Qianyuan is also said to have been written by Sidong. Other works include the 60-volume "Ridai Shi Biao," the 16-volume "Rinpa Sect" and the 20-volume "Gunshogiban," and the "Shiyuan Anthology of Poems and Prose," which give a sense of the spirit of resistance to the Qing dynasty.

中国、清(しん)代初期の学者。字(あざな)は季野、号して石園。浙江(せっこう)省鄞(きん)県（寧波(ニンポー)）の人。黄宗羲(こうそうぎ)の門に学び、礼学と史学に長じた。明(みん)代の掌故に詳しく、かねて『旧唐書(くとうじょ)』以後の歴代史が纂修(さんしゅう)官の共編になったことに飽き足りなかったところから、1679年（康煕18）に明史館(みんしかん)がおこされたときも、その編纂事業に直接には参加せず、かえって500巻に及ぶ稿本を手定してみせた。ちなみに『明史』332巻は斯同の稿本を踏襲したものである。また徐乾元(じょけんげん)の『読礼通考』160巻も、実は斯同の筆に出るといわれる。ほかに『歴代史表』60巻、『儒林宗派』『羣書疑弁(ぐんしょぎべん)』各16巻、『石園詩文集』20巻などがあり、清朝への抵抗の精神を感じさせる。
