Hangai [Mountains] - Hangai

Japanese:
Hangai [Mountains] - Hangai
A mountain range that runs from northwest to southeast through the western part of Mongolia. Its average elevation is 3,000m. Its highest peak, Mount Otgon Tengri (3,905m), rises to the east of Ulyastai. The plateau formed by this range is rich in pastureland, but the area around the upper reaches of the Orkhon River in the east is particularly good, and was also a key transportation point, providing bases for nomadic nations such as the Turks, Uighurs, and Mongols.
