Hameenlinna - Hameenlinna (English spelling)

The administrative center of the Häme region, located in the southwestern edge of the Lake District in southern Finland. Swedish name: Tavastehus. Population: 46,352 (2001). It developed around the 13th century Häme Castle, and received a city charter in 1638. Currently, it is not as developed as it is located almost halfway between the two major cities of Helsinki and Tampere. In addition to the castle, there is the Sibelius Memorial Museum, an art museum, old wooden houses, and it is the starting point of the tourist route from Lake Banaya to Tampere. There is a textile industry.

フィンランド南部、湖水地方の南西端に位置するハメ地方の行政中心都市。スウェーデン語名タバステヒュースTavastehus。人口4万6352（2001）。13世紀のハメ城を中心に発達し、1638年都市の特許状を得た。現在はヘルシンキとタンペレの二大都市のほぼ中間にあるために発展していない。城のほか、シベリウス記念館、美術館、古い木造民家などがあり、バナヤ湖からタンペレに通ずる観光ルートの基点となっている。繊維工業がある。
