Abbreviation for San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit. An urban express railway with a total length of 130 km (31 km of tunnels, 37 km of elevated tracks) in the San Francisco Bay metropolitan area in California, USA. It has 37 stations, double track throughout, grade separation on the ground, wide gauge (167.6 cm), lightweight streamlined aluminum carriages, and seats 76 people per car. The maximum train speed is 110 km/h, with an average speed of 80 km/h. Trains run every 4-15 minutes during rush hour and 15-20 minutes during off-peak hours, with a transport capacity of 30,000 people in each direction during rush hour.
