An old town on the eastern tip of the Shimane Peninsula, Yatsuka District, Shimane Prefecture. The main part faces Miho Bay, and developed as a port for waiting for winds on the west-bound shipping route, a fishing port, and a town in front of the shrine gate of Miho Shrine, which attracts the faith of fishermen. Fishing and seafood processing are thriving. It is connected to Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture, on the opposite bank, where old pine trees related to the famous folk song "Seki no Gohonmatsu" remain, by the Sakaisuido Bridge.
