Producer gas - hasseirogasu (English spelling)

Gas obtained by burning coal or coke with an insufficient amount of air. Its main active ingredients are 25% carbon monoxide and 10% hydrogen, and it also contains a small amount of methane, but it is mostly nitrogen (about 55%), so it has a low calorific value of about 5 megajoules per cubic meter. It was often used as an industrial fuel because it was cheap, but with the advent of the oil and natural gas era it has become almost unused.

石炭あるいはコークスを不十分な量の空気で燃焼して得られるガスをいう。一酸化炭素25％、水素10％を有効主成分とし、メタンを少量含むが、窒素が約55％と多いので、1立方メートル当り5メガジュール程度の低発熱量となる。安価であるため工業用燃料としてよく利用されていたが、石油・天然ガス時代の到来とともにほとんど使われなくなった。
