Developmental state - Developmental state

A highly reactive state immediately after generation. For example, hypochlorous acid (HClO) is an unstable compound that decomposes to produce hydrogen chloride and oxygen. The elementary steps of the decomposition reaction are

HClO → HCl + O

Atomic oxygen is thought to be extremely reactive, and is therefore in this state. Hydrogen generated by reacting dilute sulfuric acid with zinc is also in this state, and when it is generated in a solution containing permanganate ions, the reddish purple color of the permanganate ions is bleached. It will not be bleached by simply passing hydrogen gas through it. These are sometimes called nascent hydrogen and nascent oxygen.

発生直後の反応性に富んだ状態．たとえば，次亜塩素酸HClOは不安定な化合物で，分解して塩化水素と酸素を生じるが，分解反応の素過程は

HClO → HCl ＋ O

と考えられ，原子状酸素は反応性がきわめて高い．亜鉛に希硫酸を作用させて発生した水素もこの状態にあって，過マンガン酸イオンを含む溶液中で発生させると，過マンガン酸イオンの赤紫色が脱色される．単に水素ガスを通じただけでは脱色されない．発生期状態水素，発生期状態酸素のようによぶことがある．
