A town in Minamiakita County, western Akita Prefecture. It occupies the delta region at the mouth of the Babame River and is a major rice producer. Its center is Hitoichi, which is on the Ou Main Line and connected to the central reclaimed land of Lake Hachirogata by the Ogata Bridge over the waterway. 秋田県西部，南秋田郡の町。馬場目(ばばめ)川河口の三角州地域を占め，米作が盛ん。中心は一日市(ひといち)で，奥羽本線が通じ，八郎潟の中央干拓地と承水路にかかる大潟橋でむすばれる。ワカサギのつくだ煮業は干拓により衰えた。17.00km2。6623人（2010）。
