A town in Minamiakita County, western Akita Prefecture. It occupies the delta region at the mouth of the Babame River and is a major rice producer. Its center is Hitoichi, which is on the Ou Main Line and connected to the central reclaimed land of Lake Hachirogata by the Ogata Bridge over the waterway.
