The alloy used for soldering (called solder) with a melting point of 450°C or higher is called hard solder, and soldering using this is called brazing, while soldering using soft solder with a melting point of 450°C or lower is called soldering. Gold, silver, copper, and aluminum alloys are used for hard solder, and lead-tin alloys are the most commonly used for soft solder.
