Bathurst
Former name of Banjul, the capital of Gambia, named after Henry Bathurst, Secretary of State for the Colonies and supporter of the abolition of slavery.
A city in the eastern part of New South Wales, Australia. It is located about 210 km northwest of Sydney. It was the country's first settlement in the inland area west of the Great Dividing Range in 1815. It is the center of an agricultural region, including sheep farms. Many colonial-era buildings remain, including a Methodist church and a Catholic boarding school.

オーストラリア、ニューサウスウェールズ州東部の都市。シドニーの北西約210キロメートルに位置する。1815年、グレートディバイディング山脈より西側の内陸部で同国初の入植地となった。牧羊などの農牧地帯の中心地。メソジスト教会やカトリックの寄宿学校など、植民地時代の建物が多く残っている。
