...A word that is used intentionally in another place as a word that is somehow related in meaning to another word in waka or writing. "En" means connection, that is, some kind of relationship, and related words are also called "yose" or "kakeahi." For example, in the waka poem "Wagasekoga koromo no hem wo fuu ga urame rashi ki aki no atsu kaze" ("The first wind of autumn blows back the hem of wagasekoga koromo" ("Kokinshu")), "ura" in the fourth line is a word that is related to "koromo" in the second line, that is, a related word.
