Daydream - Hakuchuumu (English spelling)

Daydream - Hakuchuumu (English spelling)

A dream-like state of consciousness that occurs during wakefulness in which one imagines various situations and indulges in fantasies to fulfill unfulfilled desires. Also known as daydreaming. It is common among infants and young children, who play the protagonists of imaginary stories and dramas while playing alone. This is because children's psychological development is immature and the distinction between reality and fantasy is not clear, so the two tend to interpenetrate each other. In adult daydreams, infantile ambition, delusions of grandeur, and sexual desires are also clearly expressed, but compared to nighttime dreams, secondary processing is dominant and the scenario is more consistent. According to Freud, fantasy is like a nature reserve allowed to adults, and poets create general and universal fantasies from these personal and specific wish-fulfillment fantasies.
