Seven-day calendar

Japanese:
Seven-day calendar

A calendar book that records the daily degrees of the sun, moon, and five planets - Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury (longitudes measured along the equator from the star that is the basis of the 28 mansions). It is sometimes written as the Seven Star Calendar or the Seven Government Calendar. It is a type of astronomical calendar. It was originally brought over from China, but according to the Engishiki, the Shichiyo calendar was submitted by the Onmyoryo (Inner Bureau of Yin and Yang) on the first day of the New Year every year, and was compiled in Japan in the early 10th century. It was temporarily discontinued in the Middle Ages, but was revived at the request of Shibukawa Harumi during the Jōkyō calendar reform (1685), and continued until the beginning of the Meiji period. The Shichiyo calendar is not a calendar for everyday use, but rather a special calendar not for general use; however, the Shichiyo calendar compiled by the Tenmonkata was published by the Kyoto sutra master Furuya and a group of Edo calendar makers and distributed to the general public.
