…French chemist. After studying in the laboratory of E. Frémy (1814-1894) at the Museum of Natural History, he entered the École Polytechnique. In 1880 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on cyanide, and in 1886 he became professor of toxicology. In 1900 he succeeded L. Troost (1825-1911) as professor of inorganic chemistry at the University of Paris. …
