A heroic epic poem of the steppe told by Dede Korkut, a fictional bard of the Turkish nomadic Oghuz tribe. Based on ancient Oghuz folklore, it was completed in its current form around the 15th century. It consists of 12 stories set in the nomadic world from Central Asia through the Caucasus to Anatolia, and is written in prose with poems and proverbs interspersed throughout. It also incorporates elements of stories from other ethnic groups who came into contact with the Oghuz, such as the story of the one-eyed giant Cyclops from the Odyssey.

トルコ遊牧民オグズ族の想像上の吟遊詩人デデ･コルクトDede Korkutによって語られる草原の英雄叙事詩。古代にさかのぼるオグズ族伝承を核心に，15世紀ころ現在の形態に完成された。中央アジアからカフカスをへてアナトリアにいたる遊牧世界を舞台とする12の物語から成り，散文体に詩や格言が点綴されている。《オデュッセイア》に登場する一つ目巨人キュクロプスの物語など，オグズ族に接触した他民族の説話要素もとりいれている。
